Our Mission:
The Boulder Chorale enhances the community's
quality of life by offering music education, outreach, and quality
performances.
The Boulder Chorale is proud to be Boulder's oldest and largest
community choral organization. We collaborate with other regional
ensembles including the Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra, the Colorado
MahlerFest, Longmont, Jefferson and Timberline Symphony Orchestras,
Denver's Mercury Ensemble, Kutandara Marimba, and the Colorado Hebrew
Chorale. Acclaimed performances from recent seasons featured Orff's
Carmina Burana, Mahler's Das klagende Lied,
Beethoven's Symphony No. 9, Bach's Magnificat, and the
Requiems of Duruflé, Mozart, Verdi and Fauré. The Chorale
each season also presents concerts of smaller and intriguing works,
including new music of living composers and unaccompanied choral gems
from the 16th to 21st centuries.
While deeply rooted in our community, the Boulder Chorale also enjoys
a tradition of international touring. In 2001 we embarked on a goodwill
exchange tour to the People's Republic of China in collaboration with
Joan Conlon and the University of Colorado Singers, where we presented
concerts and master-classes in Beijing, Shanghai and Xian.
In 2003 the Chorale toured Italy, giving concerts in Rome, L'Aquila,
Acciano and Florence. A highlight of this tour was an invitation to sing
Vespers at St. Peter's Basilica. We toured Austria in 2005, performing
at the Innsbruck International Choral Festival, and giving concerts in
Vienna and Salzburg. The 2007 concert tour took us to Greece. Plans are
underway for a fourth concert tour in 2011.
As part of our commitment to outreach and education, the Boulder
Chorale sponsors several initiatives. The Angel Tickets and Tickets
for Children programs strive to increase the accessibility of our
concerts. The Young Artists Vocal Competition and the High School
Choristers Program expand our commitment to music education in the
community.
The Boulder Chorale invites all interested singers to join us,
and welcomes new members each season. There is a place for everyone who
wishes to sing.
BOULDER CONCERT CHORALE
Timothy Snyder, Director
The
Boulder Concert Chorale is a mixed chorus of adult voices open to all
without audition. The mission of the Concert Chorale lies at the heart
of our organization's purpose—to provide a quality choral learning
and performance opportunity for all who wish to sing. New members are
welcomed through open registration twice each year.
BOULDER CAMERATA
Timothy Snyder, Director
The
Boulder Camerata is an auditioned mixed ensemble of approximately 60-80
experienced singers. The Camerata performs a varied repertoire of works
ranging from Renaissance polyphony, Baroque chamber music and Classical
masterworks to works by contemporary composers, including new compositions
commissioned by the Chorale. Each season the Camerata presents at least
one major work from the choral/orchestral repertoire. New members are
welcomed each year. Auditions are held in August and January.
BOULDER CHILDREN'S CHORALE
Kimberly Watkins, Director
The Boulder Children's Chorale is open to students in grades 2 through 8,
and comprises two ensembles: a preparatory choir for younger singers and
a concert choir for more experienced singers. Friendly voice placements
are held in May and August of each year.
