2009-2010 Board of Directors

Jeff Hale – President

Jeff has been singing in the bass section of the Chorale since 2001. He has prior music experience from his years at Fairview High School where he was a tuba player in the marching band and a member of the Fairview choir. Jeff is currently a sales manager at McCaddon Cadillac Buick Pontiac GMC in Boulder. He is married to Julie (Alto/Graphics), has three children and three grandchildren.

Jeff Livesay – Past-President

Jeff Livesay has been singing in choirs since he was in third grade and is the past president of the board for 2009-2010. Jeff has a degree in Psychology and works in the social services field as a Case Manager to people with mental illnesses. His hobbies include playing basketball, frisbee golf, chess, taking long walks on the beach.... and singing! Thanks for taking the time to get to know Jeff a bit better!

Becky Korte – Vice-President

Becky Korte has been singing with the Chorale for 14 years. She has been working on the CU Boulder Campus for 16 years and is currently a supervisor in the communications center at the Department of Public Safety which handles all 911 calls from campus. Current pastimes include music (of course), travel, riding her maxi-scooter as much as possible and traditional archery.

Sharon Soderlund – Treasurer

Sharon Soderlund joined the Boulder Chorale Board of Directors in the 2009-2010 season.

Josephine Bynder – Secretary

Josephine has been a member of the Chorale since 1990 and has served on the Board twice before in a variety of positions. She is also a long-standing member of the Grants Writing Committee. Josephine is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, retired from the local Mental Health Center in 1997 and maintains a small counseling practice in Boulder.

Cynthia Anderson – Ticket Sales

Cynthia has been a Boulder Chorale member since 2003. Her previous choir experience dates back to high school, where she sang in both the concert and jazz choirs. Prior to retirement from the work force to raise her two sons, Cynthia developed and installed manufacturing application business software in the U.S., Australia, and Asia-Pacific.

Diana Doyle – Asst. Music Librarian

Diana Oliveras Doyle is a biology instructor at the University of Colorado. She is currently working on a long-term pollination project in Boulder Open Space. When she is not singing, teaching or doing research, she watches her sons play hockey and perform in band.

Maria Forlenza – Member At Large

Maria Forlenza joined the Boulder Chorale Board of Directors in the 2008-2009 season.

Paul Haynes – Registrar/Membership Liaison

A retired programmer/analyst, Paul is now a professional grandfather and an occasional tutor in mathematics. He is a member of the American Contract Bridge League, in which he competes in tournaments and serves as a Club Director (a position parallel to a minor-league umpire in baseball). Paul has been a bass/baritone in the Boulder Chorale since 1995, and the son of a member since 1965. He was on the Board as Music Librarian from 2001 to 2007 and maintained the BoCho website from 2004 to 2006. Paul left the Boulder Chorale Board in 2007 and returned in 2009 as Registrar.

Greg Herring – Concert Manager Co-Chair

Greg has been an active member of the Boulder Chorale since 1999. In addition to high school and college choral experiences, Greg has sung in a number of church, community and small ensemble choirs. Greg is a project manager with IBM, working in their Strategic Outsourcing organization.

Marlene Johnson – Chorale Financial Adviser

Marlene Johnson joined the Boulder Chorale Board of Directors in the 2009-2010 season.

Nani McPherson – Registration Assistant

Nani McPherson comes to us with ten plus years of experience working in the human services field. After completing her Master's Degree at the University of Wisconsin, she moved to Colorado in 2004 to take a position with the State as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor. Specializing in working with persons with developmental disabilities as well as youth transitioning from school to work; she prides herself in the community partnerships she's built within Boulder County and across the State over the past four years. When not serving her community; Nani enjoys travel, hiking, whitewater rafting, camping, 4WD adventures, community exploration, live music, and numerous social activities. She is very grateful to have found the Boulder Chorale over two years ago; as music has always been a very prominent part of her life.

Wayne Moore – Development

Wayne Moore is a Physician Assistant with a Bachelor's degree in Business. He is an amateur pianist and enjoys mountain-oriented sports/activities and travelling.

Skills bringing to the Chorale Board: Hospital department management including capital and operating budget planning & execution.

Sam Richman – Music Librarian

Sam came to Boulder in 1990 and has been a bass in the Boulder Chorale since 2003. He has a Ph.D. in physics from CU and presently works in the R&D group at Research Electro-Optics, a local precision optics company. His formative organized musical experience was playing the trumpet in high school band and orchestra.

Outside of music, Sam enjoys reading, languages, backpacking, playing ultimate frisbee, and spending time with his wife and their two daughters.

Malcom Stephens – Member At Large

Retired from a career in Federal acquisitions. Enjoy photography, cooking, travel, and recreation (road cycling in fair weather; snowshoeing and downhill skiing in the winter).

Norton Steuben – Board Legal Advisor

Norton brings his legal expertise to his Board position. Starting his law career as a partner in Hodgson, Russ, Andrews, Woods and Goodyear of Buffalo, New York, he moved to the University of Colorado in the early 1960's and is currently Nicholas Rosenbaum Professor of Law, Emeritus. Norton served as Tax Policy Adviser to the Ukrainian government in 1997-2000. His publications include Fundamentals of Federal Income Taxation, and Cases and Materials on Real Estate Planning. A strong community volunteer, Professor Steuben has served as a Member of the Community Advisory Panel for Roche, Colorado, a volunteer attorney for Boulder County Legal Services, and a Boulder Housing Counselor, offering advice to prospective residential purchasers and residential owners facing foreclosure. Norton is a lifelong lover of jazz, orchestral, and chorale music and has played the bass violin in both jazz and orchestral groups.
